1.Jin really is multi-talented.

Even if he doesn't really know it.

Don't look at him like that, Tanaka Koki meant it.

He used to begrudgingly admit that Jin is a blessed being with occasionally useful talents but most of the time relied on his dumb luck.

He had just finished watching Bandage, and it reminded him of a lot of things, especially on how Nakamaru insisted that Jin could have been at the top of everything if he wants it bad enough. Contrary to the popular opinion, the T-TUN segment of the group actually appreciated the overwhelming popularity of their two “frontmen” for their success, which eventually morphed into sales figures that propelled them to be among highest hierarchy of the competitive fight club called the Johnny's Jimusho.

It was no secret that all 6 of them didn't start by admiring the other's abilities; in fact, they don't even think they should belong in a group together. Adding that to the management's approach in their group dynamics, they might as well have everybody in the agency admitted that no one expected them to debut that successfully when they were formed nearly a decade ago.

Probably no one expected them to last too, or so to speak.

Jin, for Koki, had always been the boy that everybody expects more from. He was the natural looker with the widest smile around and the goofiest grin. He was the one with a raw voice more powerful than what most wannabe singers could ever dream of possessing. He was the one whom everybody adores to a feverish degree.

Koki can't place his mind on the exact time that Jin stopped trying hard. Was it right after Kazuya debuted with Yamapi for Shuuji to Akira? Was it right after he returned from the United States? Or was it a gradual process, after discovering that he's going to be playing second fiddle to Kazuya?

Their group was a mess, the management didn't bother hiding that, plus having two members towering in popularity against all members - their greatest trouble was both their greatest weakness and greatest strength.

While the rumour mills could keep circulating news about all of them not getting along with each other, the fact remained that Jin could have tried harder.

Kat-Tun might be a lot of things, but pretending to love each other is definitely not their forte.

So is pretending to hate each other.

In otaku terms they will probably be described as being “tsun tsun” towards each other (most guilty of this are Jin and Nakamaru, though that could also be used to describe everybody's default mode of action towards everything Taguchi does or say). In layman terms they are usually described as “not getting along with each other”.

Koki found that he no longer could resent Jin for his privileged entertainment career. Even though there were many ways in which he's definitely more fortunate than the rest of them, but those were eclipsed by the misfortunes that he was forced to endure.

Because being multi-talented also means having a certain magnetic force for bad press.

And none of those ever mattered to him because he knew his place in Kat-Tun.

He might be a philandering playboy (Koki thinks that it's just him liking women, since there are probably none who could capture his attention for more than 3 days at most), lazy (but at least he's fast), individualistic (but all of them are) or moody (but anyone would, seeing how he was asked to not act natural) - but Jin's pain is probably something that little people could understand.

Koki personally enjoys hogging Kazuya. When Kazuya learnt to start depending on all of them (not just Jin alone) Koki saw a lot of Kazuya that the public might not catch a glimpse of. Like how he downed a few cups of coffee hoping that his headache will go away. Like how he actually reads the original source material if his drama is based on another work. Or maybe how he will consistently call his neighbour if Ran-chan is alright. And how he really, sort of have no friends to hang out in his days off because he would rather sleep to cure his otherwise unmaskable eyebags.

But Jin never gets to hog Kazuya. Not anymore.

And he probably needs him most in all of the world.

Sometimes Koki felt that it's a shame that Kazuya has little people that he can depend on outside of his little world of work yet being totally comfortable with it; but one has to be blind to not notice how happy he was at Jin's return, as though something irreplacable found its way back into his life.

It's not hard to see what Jin is to Kazuya, though it might be harder to fathom what exactly Kazuya is to Jin.

Being emotionally tied to your bandmate sucks when you're Jin.

2. Jin likes girls.

The fact that does not deny the possibilities of the lingering trend of rumours, but it also never proved Jin to be a liar.

Over the years Ueda had seen him exerting his own romantic ideals over and over again in the magazine interviews, television interviews, and during the rare moments when they get to talk.

If there's anything Ueda could tell from Jin's return to Kat-Tun since mid-2007, it was the difference in how Jin handles relationships.

Ueda might not be the most perspective person in the world, but he could tell that Jin could now separate sex from love – there could be many people that he can have sex with, but there's only one person that he could love.

He couldn't decide if that was a good thing.

There have been a recurring trend in Jin's defense against the camera and bad press which Ueda observed - his usual self during their usual shootings for TV shows, his quieter self while shooting press conferences, his usual self during their PV shooting, then his sometimes-reserved self during television appearances. Basically he loves talking to the rest of Kat-Tun, he just hates talking about Kat-Tun. Being together in a six-person group breathes life to him after his hiatus, as unbelievable as that sounded.

However, in Jin's case, his main calling is also the source of his biggest distress.

Having to repress his own feelings proved to have put a greater toll on him than he have expected. Within a few years, Ueda had seen him getting antsy when Kazuya refused to talk to him while the camera's rolling, getting incredibly giggly when Kazuya whispered something to him backstage, to getting impatient while dealing with Nakamaru.

He once confided in Ueda that he felt as though the only times that he did right was when people photographed him with women. It sometimes disgust him that they willingly let him touch them, though most of the time when they approach him in that was he gets turned on in a way that has nothing to do with sexual arousals.

"It's like I met people's expectations", he said.

Ueda later discovered that he wasn't alone. Taguchi was probably the earliest to realize Jin's conflicting emotions, expressing his concern by consistently poking him in various places (apparently his favourite move nowadays is a knee-jerk to Jin's shin, at least he's smart to hold back on Jin's collar). Koki spared him and only teased him along with the others. Nakamaru, needless to say, practically lets him walk over him.

If you ask him about the exact nature of Jin's sexuality, Ueda will probably jump straight to the most normal answer. He likes girls, he have sex with girls, and they spend a fair amount of time off-camera talking about boobs and their “weapons”. But it doesn't change the fact that it was a guy whom he had a combustive chemistry with.

It's not as obvious if they are in a group, but if Ueda tries spending time with Jin and Kazuya, he feels claustrophobic. No matter how long Ueda had known both of them, their interactions felt like a world of their own. Their lips might be speaking incoherent babbles that are very much characteristic of them, but their intense gazes with unintentionally soft half-whispers barely allows any outsider.

Their body languages also speaks a lot about a personalized world that only both of them knows. Jin mumbles far more often when he's speaking with Kazuya, rendering his speeches almost unintelligible to other people. Kazuya, strangely, could always catch on to that and reacted instantly by gently nudging him or sometimes hitting him. Ueda thought that such dependency is both their greatest bliss and sorrow - in Jin's case, Kazuya occupied so much of his youth, he cannot bring himself to grow up when he's with Kazuya because that means he's leaving a part of himself behind. The part of him that's happy to have him by his side and tries to impress him whenever he can.

The press always reported otherwise, but one always need to see how exactly Jin is like to know that he cannot be taken away from Kat-Tun.

Same goes to the others.

They had proved that they could do without him - though Kazuya took a little more than others to work on performing without Jin - but they would rather not.

3. Jin hates cameras.

Though he didn't start off being that way.

Taguchi vividly remembered the few moments when he made a gesture like he was about to push the camera away, which he prevented by teasing him. He might not be the smartest person in reacting according to the atmosphere, but Taguchi knew entertainment business enough to know that intentional avoidance of the camera could only mean an unspoken invitation for more cameras.

"Hey Jin, don't you think you should talk to him?"

Taguchi will sometimes nudge him when Jin's feeling extraordinarily moody. He would be either texting, playing with his hat or reading manga, this time texting to probably Shirota Yuu.

"No."

Usually employing a flat, nonchalant tone that Taguchi knew fooled nobody.

"Just tell him off for ignoring you earlier."

It's hard to bulge him.

"Why don't you tell him instead?"

Taguchi swear that this guy is more clueless than him.

"Obviously that's because you want to talk to him."

He might have been pouting lesser these days, but his reaction is still amusing to watch.

"To a person who just ignored me?"

See what he meant by amusing?

"At least try hiding it when the camera rolls?"

How can Jin text so much and so fast at the same time?

"Don't feel like it."

Taguchi can't help himself from grinning everytime Jin does a failed imitation of a child.

"You might wanna try hiding your face a little next time, like how a hat or a pair of sunglasses could be helpful."

Now he finally got his attention.

Only that he didn't realize how far did Jin took his suggestion to.

"You know, Akanishi, you're gonna get our stylist fired by trafikking hats into the shows when they specifically asked you to take them off."

Naturally, Koki's warning was left ignored.

4. Jin's girliness level could be higher than Nakamaru's

Only true if they are applied when he's with Kazuya. Alone.

Being one of the two unfortunate victims of Jin's sadistic bullyings, Nakamaru knew the tell-tale signs of Jin's impending "advances". One of them being Jin being flustered.

Sometimes Nakamaru wondered why he would make random teasing actions out of nowhere when he was pretty sure he had done absolutely nothing to incur his playful side. Once he took the trouble to observe Jin properly, he realized that Jin initially teases people to hide his own embarassment (aside from continuously trying to tell people that he actually have some brain), especially intense when he's very, very flustered. There was a time when Koki openly expressed his admiration on Jin, and Jin's face turned scarlet while attempting to deflect everyone else's teasings. Which then led him to proceed by saying how Nakamaru's nose just got bigger by the day.

The second one was that he was accustomed to speak faster than he can think. He's not famous for having no brains, he's just famous for not using them. Among all of them Nakamaru could safely say that Jin's the easiest to come across as selfish; though he knew that it's more attributed to him having no sense of words than being actually selfish. It's not uncommon to see Kazuya hitting him in the head whenever he messes a sentence ever since their days as some unknown Juniors. Nakamaru remembered thinking how mind-numbingly adorable they were as Jin fumbled and Kazuya hitting him then telling him how cute it was.

When they were younger, watching both of them could get embarassingly awkward. It's not that they pay attention to each other too much that they ignored others, it's just that, they could be really unapproachable once they start talking to each other.

This is evident even until now, especially when they weren't scripted. Only a few days ago, when he hung out with Jin for lunch, Kazuya gave Jin a call and he answered in a way that boggled Nakamaru about the flow of conversation.

"Uhm, yea."

"Because you weren't free. Weren't you shooting for the drama?"

So Kazuya were asking why didn't he ask him.

"But I wasn't free."

Maybe talking about other appointments?

"The drama, right?"

This is going nowhere.

"I still have my solo concert."

But his solo concert just ended!

Nakamaru gave up.

He didn't know if Jin realized it, he mostly fumbles when he's nervous, and he gets nervous insanely easy.

"Was that Kame?"

Jin averted his attention from his cellphone and turned to Nakamaru.

"Uh, yea."

"Were you guy supposed to hang out today?" Nakamaru's chopstick dived into the hotpot for a piece of beef.

"He didn't reply my text."

"When did you text him yesterday?" Nakamaru should have expected nothing less from Jin. He has the tendency to, well, not properly answer questions directed to him. If he's not answering directly, he'll tell people that he's not answering.

"It wasn't that late though. Thought he'll be be able to reply it."

"You said he was busy, right?"

"I'm used to him ignoring me anyway."

"Hey, Akanishi," Nakamaru dipped a fresh piece of beef into the pot, "Sometimes you ignore people too."

"Don't switch the blame to me, idiot."

Nakamatu had a feeling that this little squabble might lead to Jin's sour face in tomorrow's TV appearance, so he made a suggestion.

"Why don't we go for a karaoke session after this?"

Without looking at him, Jin answered "No, I'm tired."

Nakamaru have no choice but to let Jin retreat to his alleged tiredness.

The alleged tiredness was cured soon after, as they stopped by a convenience store near Jin's house to get some cans of beer.

"Oi, Kame!"

Nakamaru shouted out to the bespectacled Kazuya, who was wearing a cap to camouflage his presence.

Jin's reaction was a queer mix of surprise and confusion.

"What are you doing here?" He asked Kazuya as three of them approached each other.

Kazuya, who clearly didn't expected to be busted, rubbed his neck in hesitation.

"Just buying something to cook, I guess."

Nakamaru saw that Kazuya's trolley contained pasta, tomato, carbonara cream - all ingredients to what he usually cook for Jin.

"Why do you have to buy all those.." Jin's voice was more mumbly than question-y.

Kazuya somewhat managed to miss Jin's sort-of happy tone. "Yea, these. I still don't know what to cook though."

"Just cook whatever you like, then."

It didn't feel right being a stranger in front of two people he practically knew his whole life, so Nakamaru suggested again.

"Wouldn't it be better if I go home now?"

"Sure, let me go with you." Jin's immediate answer was as blunt as an axe.

"Stay, you moron!" Nakamaru said, while poking his collarbone, initializing that high-pitched shrill that is seldom heard nowadays.

Nakamaru sometimes wonder if Jin's really almost two years older than Kazuya.

5. Jin's sensitive spot is also the back of his ear

Especially when that 5 cm difference in height is made irrelevant.

"Your shoulder is getting broader." Jin's random comment could be really, er, random.

They were re-watching the last season for Prison Break in Jin's house one day, but Jin was hardly paying attention.

"Why are you looking at my shoulders instead?"

"Well, I was ..well."

Jin's face nonchalant, though his eyes rather defiant, then darted back to the television screen.

"Nothing, I guess."

Kazuya felt that this conversation should be pushed to after they finished watching the episode, so he followed suit.

"I guessed that too."

He sometimes wished that he could be more expressive about Jin. It's not like he's holding back on his affections, but he just isn't the type who could compose a speech about how much he adores Jin. There were times that he would hug him, rub his arms, lean against him, but he rarely tells him that he loves having him with him so much, not just anyone could cut it. He also never got around to telling him that he wouldn't have minded not being together forever with him as long as they remain in each other's presence. He turned his face to steal a glance at him, wondering if he could ever be able to say how he needs him?

"I'm tired", Kazuya said while leaning down to Jin's shoulder, carefully lining his hairlines just right above his collarbone.

He heard a small chuckle. "Didn't I say you should go back?" Jin's voice gets progressively deeper by the year, but he still retained the gentleness from his childhood.

It was barely louder than a whisper - but for some unknown reason he couldn't hear anything else after that.

Though when he did wake up some time (a few hours? Minutes? What was the time when he fell asleep anyway?) later, his head was on Jin's laps and Jin had his elbow on the chair's arm, supporting his own sleeping head.

Did Jin just sleep on the sofa and refuse to bulge because he fell asleep?

Kazuya extended his hand to slip some of Jin's hair to the back of his ear, and he flinched, obviously rudely awakened by the gesture.

Kazuya burst into fits of nervous giggles. "Are you still afraid of that?"

Jin carelessly combed his hair with his hand. "Shut up."

Head still on Jin's lap, Kazuya looked at him while his hand searched for his and connect them.

"Let's get some more sleep and I'll cook for you later, ok?"

Jin's lips curved into a small smile.

He might have as well suggested nothing; they spent more time on the sofa holding each other's hands than actually sleeping.
